Speech Timer 2.3.1 for macOS adds Dark Mode Support

This release of Speech Timer for macOS adds support for dark mode themes when run in macOS 10.14 “Mojave” or later. Furthermore the color scheme now uses the new adaptive colors that would look great whether it’s running on dark mode, light mode, or other color themes such as high contrast.

However we are sorry to announce that data synchronization between devices is no longer supported starting on macOS 10.13 “High Sierra” or later. The reason being is that operating system release had deprecated Core Data sync over iCloud. Moreover this deprecated feature hasn’t been functioning well in 10.14 “Mojave” and using it potentially crash the application. Therefore to prevent user data loss and to ensure continuing use of Speech Timer, we turned off synchronization. If you have Speech Timer running on other devices, the data on your mac (speech history and speech types) would no longer update those devices and vice-versa.

Speech Timer is designed to track the timings of speaking sessions at Toastmasters meetings. It helps the participant holding the timer role to keep track of “who are speaking what project for how long” as well as to create and potentially distribute the Timer’s Report at the end of the session. The application also frees the sergeant-at-arms from needing to carry a separate time-light device and timer-flags, streamlining the items that need to be set up at the venue and carried back to storage.

Speech Timer for 2.3 macOS requires macOS version 10.9 “Yosemite” or later.
